Shopping @ Created

Yay! I ordered some things from Created (Tearfund's fairly-traded crafts shop) over the weekend, and it all arrived today (in a very flat package!). :)

So, what did I get, and what do I think?

These triple leaf earrings had tempted me for a while, and have certainly not disappointed! I like long, dangly earrings, and these are even better than they look on the site! They are very pretty and jangly, and were made by Noah's Ark in India.

This Eco notebook has also exceeded expectations. Its cover is made of woven water hyacinth, and the paper inside has been handmade from water hyacinth, too, giving it a beautiful smell! It is small enough to fit in my bag, but with enough paper inside that I won't run out too quickly. It was made by HEED Handicrafts in Bangladesh.

Jon and I often have a problem in November and February finding space to display birthday cards, which is why this Tree cardholder caught my eye. It can hang on a wall and display the cards that won't fit on the mantelpiece, and it looks very lovely on its own, too. I've just put some photos in it to test its usefulness, and am quite pleased! This was made by Asha Handicrafts in India.

The final item in my package was a little indulgent and particularly unusual for this time of year, but I couldn't help myself. I've wanted this Nativity jigsaw for a long time now! I was particularly impressed with the way the webpage shows it can be used as a 3D Nativity scene as well as an ordinary jigsaw; this, however, has proven a little trickier than it at first appeared. There are no instructions and there is no picture large enough to explain it fully to me (the star is the most awkward bit to figure out). I would have appreciated instructions, but I'm sure I'll have fun experimenting once December rolls around. It also came with a lovely bag to store all the pieces in when not in use. This was made by Gospel House in Sri Lanka.

All in all, I'm quite impressed. And it arrived earlier than I thought, too, which means that now I've time to go out and buy a few things from our local organic shop. Hoorah!

Bye4now!
