Peter Bruntnell Showcase Sessions
Last night was the last of the Peter Bruntnell Showcase Sessions in Lilico's. All of which were fab!
It's difficult to pick my favourite gig, as they were all brilliant. I especially loved seeing Jim Jones and Dave Little again, as Jon and I are big fans of them both. The other support acts were all great, too. Maple Canyon last night were exceptionally good; the sort of music I'd want to listen to while spending a sunny day in the park. Jog on Robot, on the other hand, were reminiscent of sitting in a pub beer garden with friends. :)
It's difficult for me to pick a favourite main act. My least favourite was actually Jon's favourite: Oldboy, who were last night. They reminded me too much of Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones, neither of whom I like. Jon really enjoyed it, though, particularly the "shredding" (is that the right term?).
I much preferred the other nights' main acts, though. I thought Eddy Johns sounded melodic, earnest and folky, which was very enjoyable. The Owls were great, too, though we'd heard most of their songs last year. Alex Highton's songs had a laidback and dreamy feel...:)
And, of course, Peter Bruntnell himself did not disappoint! He played a set at every session, and kept everyone in the place spellbound. I'm just sad it's all over for another year now!
Thank you, Peter Bruntnell, for organising such great gigs, and please do it again next year!
