What Next?
I didn't say anything in the last post, because I didn't really know what to say. It's just... so incredible to finish. I'm almost baffled by it all.
This is my third completed murder mystery novel. I'm in a bit of shock. I can't believe I've finished all three (first draft, at least). This is so cool, and it means I'm several steps closer to being ready for publication. Which is also kinda scary...:)
But yes, it's really cool to finally have finished the first draft of this novel (it's been floating in my head for so many years now!), and I'm really pleased with it on the whole. The ending does need some work, but I need to get some distance from the story before I begin editing and at least now I have something other than a blank page to work with when I decide to polish it!
I'm not going to think about any of that until the New Year, though. Then I'll begin the mammoth task of polishing all three novels. And so now... what's next? I'm not sure, but...
NaNo is just around the corner. Writing 50,000 words in one month could be fun! I think I'd like to write something a little less dark and scary next, but I'm not sure what. So... I'm looking for a title, a main character name and some kind of vague theme.
Suggestions on an electronic postcard, people!
