An Online Spiritual Journey

I've been meaning to blog for a few days now but had other things to do/distract me, instead. Sorry. Here's an explanation of one of the main things occupying my mind lately:

I've recently acquired more free time. I believe that this free time is in answer to my prayers. Earlier in the year I felt God calling me to do more volunteer work, but until recently felt that this just wasn't possible with my previous workload. So, I prayed for more free time and got it. This may sound a bit strange, incredible, or even flippant, but that is exactly how it happened.

Now, part of this free time is for my writing, which I have been neglecting due to lack of time and energy, but the main bulk of the time is for these volunteering plans I believe God has for me. In order to spend this new free time doing as God has asked me, I'm spending a few weeks planning carefully how best to do so. I've learnt from the past that you can't do God's work your way. I need to see what avenues are available for volunteering in the area that I feel called to, and then consider each carefully.

It turns out that there is actually a volunteer position opening up that fits exactly with my current image of what God's plan for me is. This gives me the opportunity to explore this path and see if it is right, but I also need time to prayerfully consider where I'm going. Like I said, if it's not God's way, it's not going to work, so I need to be sure that this is what He wants before I jump in.

So, during the last week I have been looking up some online meditation aids. I've found some interesting sites, including one that lists spiritual retreats around the country and another with downloadable prayer sessions in mp3 format. But it was another site that really caught my attention. Perhaps you might remember me mention in a previous post about a prayer labyrinth on the beach? Well, I found an online prayer labyrinth, which I'd like to share with you!

The Methodist online labyrinth guides you through ten reflective 'stages' that are interactive and thought-provoking. Are you, like me, feeling a calling from God, but not sure how to respond? Or perhaps you're relatively new to the Christian faith and unsure what to do next? This is a wonderful resource which allows you time for thinking and listening to God. I felt it really helped me to realise just how much God has been there for me, guiding me in the past to this present moment, and that He will continue to walk with me leading me where He wants me to be and giving me the tools I need to do His work.

I'm on a journey. I don't know exactly where I'm going, but that's ok because God's in charge. I'll keep you updated along the way. :)
