Climbing Everest
I've been climbing! Over the last two days, sixty-four people climbed a combined total of 8848 metres, the height of Mount Everest, in aid of Holy Trinity Church's Tower Fund. This amazing endeavour took place at The Mill Adventure Centre. Jon and I both joined in, though he was rather nervous at first. I climbed a total of 102 metres, Jon did 120 metres!
So, what are we raising money for? In brief: Holy Trinity Church Tower in Barnstaple is in serious need of repair, and the interior of the church itself needs work to bring it into the 21st Century. The congregation has managed over the last few years to raise most of the money needed for the repairs and the building work has started. However, there's still more money needed to be able to complete all the work and this weekend's climb was part of the church's fundraising and awareness campaign. For more details on what we did and why, read the Seven Churches Mission Community Blog.
The tower is beautiful. See for yourself:
If you're impressed by Jon and my combined achievement of 222 metres and you can help out with a donation, please donate online or send a cheque to Trinity Vicarage, Victoria Road, Barnstaple, Devon. Save the Tower!
