North Devon Festival Time...

It's almost that time of year again: The North Devon Festival! As usual, there looks to be plenty to enjoy - in fact the only question is will we be able to fit in everything that we want to do?

If you don't know, the North Devon Festival happens every June and is actually a collection of various festivals and other events, all crammed into one month. This is its 11th year, and will be my fourth. :) And what is there to do, you ask? Oh, where to begin?

Let's start by looking at what's on offer for the art-lovers. One of the very first events (and not actually in June, but nobody seems to have noticed), is the Appledore Visual Arts Festival on May 28-31. There'll be lots of exhibitions, demonstrations and talks, plus workshops for the public to join in (although some of these are a tad expensive). We highly recommend you catch Simon Moore, if you go. If you're busy this weekend, then there's more art to admire on the weekends of June 19-21 and 26-28: it's the North Devon Art Trek! This event covers both a wide variety of art and a large part of North Devon, so decide well beforehand who you want to see and work out your route!

Feeling sporty? Well, there's something for you, too! Surfers will be pleased to hear that the Gold Coast OceanFest is back on June 19-21. And for cyclists, there's the Devon Coast to Coast Challenge on June 7th, which aims to raise money for the North Devon Hospice.

Throughout the month there'll be some great music, courtesy of the Barnstaple Fringe. Jon and I are particularly looking forward to the gigs organised by Peter Bruntnell at Lilico's - we attended one last year, which was excellent, so we'll try to get to as many as we can this year!

There's too many other events to mention them all here. Check out the The North Devon Festival Website for yourself. However, before I finish typing, I would like to give a special mention to what is quite possibly my favourite event of them all...

The Lynton & Lynmouth Music Festival! It's on June 12-14, is FREE and is FABULOUS! Just go. You'll love it! And I'll see you there!

Have fun!
