Resolutions, Final Update - Merry Christmas!
I'm posting this early because I'm going to be busy with family over Christmas and New Year. I won't have time for any of my aims then (well, maybe the crochet), so here's a brief summary of what I've been up to this month. I've also assessed how well I did with each Mid-Year Resolution, and I'm pleased to say that I don't think I did too badly. :) Although there's plenty of room for improvement!
- Get out and do more in our local area:
We've been out to the local pubs a few times this month, and we've met up with friends for gift exchanges/long-time-no-see catch-ups. Also, I'm joining a new house group in 2009, which is bigger than my old one, and will have more people around my age, so I'm looking forward to that!
I think I've done well with this resolution. Jon and I have tried new things and we've really enjoyed getting to know Devon better. Still, there's plenty more we can do to expand on this next year, so yay!
- Edit MM1 and write the first draft of MM3 (the second in the series):
Not had time this month, I'm afraid, so nothing got done.
Bah. 2008 was supposed to be the year I made MM1 as shiny as could be, but I didn't do very well with that. I must do better next year! I am very pleased with the way the first draft of MM3 went, however. I think I managed more than 50% of this aim, so I didn't do too badly, just not as well as I'd hoped.
- Finish the two crochet items I started last year:
I made a friend a pegbag this month! I don't feel quite as rusty as I did in October. I may even make a few more simple things later this month, which will build my confidence some more in preparation for the other projects.
I know, I didn't finish either project I intended to work on this year, but the gloves and pegbag have been good practice - they were both fairly simple items which have helped me get back into the habit of crocheting. Next year, I aim to complete my unfinished projects, and see what else I can do.
- Experiment in the kitchen:
I've not had a lot of Christmas baking to do, and I've been really busy in December, so I've not done a great deal this month.
Overall, I think I've done great experimenting in the kitchen this year, and hope to continue to do so next year!
- Come up with an outline for a series of children's stories:
I've done nada for this in December, besides read some useful books on query letters.
This has been a brilliant resolution, because it has formed the plan in my mind to find an agent for my children's stories next year. I think it will be one of my major projects of 2009, but I've not done as much prep as I hoped to this year. :S
So, next year I'll probably not have resolutions so much as aims, I think. I'll aim to finish making MM1 shiny, find an agent for my children's story series and finish my unfinished crochet projects, for starters. Not sure what else yet, but I'll let you know sometime early in the New Year...:)
Finally, Merry Christmas, all! And a Happy New Year, too!
