Voila la Vivicam!
I have a new camera!!! :D I still love my trusty Nikon, but in its old age it has developed an aversion to sunlight and I was looking for something with a few more pixels and other tricks. Not that I'll stop using my Nikon, of course - I love that camera way too much, and its swivel function is the best camera feature I've ever known! - but I also want something I can use when outside, whatever the weather.
So, I've bought the Vivitar Vivicam 6200w. My reasons for this are (1) it can be used underwater as well as other outdoor places, and (2) it's quite cheap. It also has 6 Megapixels, so I'm looking forward to noticing the difference in image quality.
Having taken it out of the box for a quick introduction, I've found it pretty easy to understand. The buttons are rather stiff and chunky, but that's no bad thing - they won't get pressed accidentally, that's for sure! It's also somewhat heavier than my Nikon but it fits firmly in my hands so I'm not worried about that, either. It even comes with its own case, which is quite nice, if orange (the camera itself is yellow, but I couldn't find any purple ones, and, trust me, I tried!). And my first photo looks pretty good (it's of Jon).
All in all, my first impressions are good. I'm really looking forward to testing out its full functionality on holiday next month! :D
