Kandinsky & Smoked Eel
Today, Jon and I got to know the area around Langport a little bit better. First we went to John Leach's Gallery in Muchelney, to see an exhibition of woodcuts by my favourite artist, Wassily Kandinsky. Most of his art on display was taken from his book Klänge (translated to "Sounds" in English). It was a fascinating arrangement, although it might have been improved if there had been copies of some of the poems that went with the woodcuts dotted around the room. Still, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves looking around the gallery.
Next, we drove to Brown and Forrest Smokery, Restaurant and Shop, near Hambridge, where we tried smoked eel, had a delicious (if somewhat expensive) lunch and bought some delicious-looking wares for dinner. It's a lovely place, and we both highly recommend a visit.
Yesterday, I wrote about how I loved London. And I certainly don't take that back, but I have to admit I could never live there. Travelling through the Langport area and admiring such locations as the two described above, as well as the landscape in between, I couldn't help but realise: my heart belongs to the countryside. :)
Hope all my friends are having an enjoyable time. Take care!
