Editing Update
I've just been editing MM1 again. I think I'm happy with the first three chapters now, and have been working on Chapter 4. Tomorrow, I hope to finish polishing Chapter 4 and sort out Chapter 5. Then, on Tuesday I can re-read all five chapters and see if I've actually improved the flow of the story or not.
Editing a novel is quite a difficult task. It's hard to look at your own writing in an objective manner. These characters are like real friends to me! I've been thinking about how it would be great to find someone who likes these types of novels who could read this, one chapter at a time, as I work through the re-draft. Then I could get almost instant feedback! Ah, if only life were that ideal, eh?
I'm thinking that the next best thing is to read the novel, bits at a time, to Jon and see what he thinks. Not sure what he'll make of that plan, but tough! ;)
I have noticed that in MM3 I tried to keep chapter word counts roughly similar, but MM1 has chapters that vary wildly in size. Not sure if this will be a problem, but I doubt it. The long chapters flow really well, and to cut them up just to be closer in size to others would spoil that. So, they'll have to stay as they are!
Anyway, thought peeps might want an update on the novel, and that's about all I can tell you so far! Have a fun evening, all, and speak soon!
