Travelling Dreams... and Nightmares!
Recently I've been thinking about how I ought to travel more. There's loads of places I want to visit. I mean, I've never even been to Scotland, and that's a less than three hour drive from where I used to live (of course, it's a lot more than that now!). Plus, I've friends in Swansea and family in Ireland I've never visited! And let's not get started on places that are even further afield!
So, how do I go about planning these trips? The big problem seems to be time. I wanted to go to Ireland during the summer just gone, but it turned out I was simply too busy. Where do people find time to travel the world?
But, even worse than making the time to travel, what about all the hassles with passports? Mine expires next year, and trying to find out from official sources whether I need to renew it before going on holiday with my family this Christmas has been a nightmare! No one wants to give me a definite yes or no, so they waffle on with all sorts of nonsense.
Wouldn't it just be simpler if your passport was fine to use right up to its expiry date? I could understand the issues if it were to expire while you were abroad, but why should anyone care if it's got three or six or nine months left after you get back?
*sigh* Maybe I ought to content myself with getting to know my own country better, eh?
