Via Fossa

As I said yesterday, it appears the place we had lunch in London was called Via Fossa (sorry, it doesn't seem to have a Website, so no linkee). And it was lovely. It is one of about nine restaurants all in a row facing the river, with terrace seating outside, which at that time was all pretty much empty because there had recently been a downpour. I think it was second or third from the end furthest from the museum. We perused all the menus before deciding on Via Fossa, because the food seemed reasonably priced and sounded tempting.

We sat down outside (but underneath a big umbrella in case it rained again) at around 1:40pm, and a waitress quickly appeared to see if we were ok. We soon ordered, and our drinks were brought to us. I had cranberry juice because I was really thirsty, and Jon had a latte.

Soon after that, our food arrived. We ordered three dishes for £10.45, and these were the doughballs, the soy bubble battered chicken strips with sweet chilli sauce, and the ginger beer battered cod with tartare sauce. All three dishes were delightful, and apparently the chicken went particularly well with Jon's latte. We couldn't believe what great choices we had made, especially since, as many of you know, I can be an extremely fussy eater at times.

We loved the food and drink and when we finished eating at around 2pm, we felt quite amply satisfied. The friendly waitress gave us the bill, which surprised us greatly by coming to less than £15 altogether. If you ever go to the London Docklands - which you must do before 2nd November as you simply must see the Jack the Ripper exhibition, but more on that in the next post! - then we highly recommend you give Via Fossa a try! :D
