The First 1,011 Words Are The Hardest...
I have finally begun the novel I'm supposed to be writing this summer! I've got 1,011 words. I ought to write more, but I might leave it for tomorrow now. I've got cooking to do next!
I think I'm feeling a little better about myself, now that I've finally been able to start this novel. The problem with writing is much like the problem with other arts - the blank page (or canvas or whatever). Even though I knew what the scene was to be, I found it difficult to get the opening line right. The first attempt was truly awful, and there was no way I was going to write anything else until I had a more suitable line. The line I now have is far from perfect, but it works.
Right, so tomorrow I want to write another 2,000 words, and finish chapter one. If I can do that, I think I'll easily be able to manage to have the 1st draft finished before September.
We shall see what happens...
