June Books 2008

Another month's over, which means that it's time for the next Book update!

It's a good thing I did so well last month, as I really didn't finish as many books as I'd hoped to during June. Having said that, I managed four, which is an ok number. That's the same number as I read in June last year, and no comic books this time, either!

This month's books were:

You've probably read about my reasons for buying Futures, but I'll briefly explain about the others:

I found The Coma in a book sale at the end of May, and bought it because I enjoyed Alex Garland's previous two novels and wanted to see if this was as good. I found it to be very different from what I expected, and not as good as the other two, though interesting.

I've had a copy of The Black Tower for a while now, and I forget where I got it from, but I finally decided it was about time I read it. Like The Coma, I found this quite different to the previous book I'd read by PD James (An Unsuitable Job for a Woman), and, in my opinion, not as good.

I decided to read Prince Caspian because I realised I'll probably end up seeing the newly-released movie sometime soon, and I wanted to read the book beforehand. From what I know of the film from trailers and such, it's going to be quite a bit different from the original story. Will have to wait and see.

Oh, and my mid-year total of books read is 30 (26 previously unread), so I suppose I've not done as badly as I thought! :)

Anyways, last year I read six books in July, so I'm hoping that this year I can do the same. Wish me luck!
