Devon Attractions

[UPDATE: 12/8/2010]If you're looking for things to do in Devon, I now keep a regularly updated list in my Interests section. This page is woefully out of date![UPDATE]

Devon is a lovely county, with so much to see and do. Having lived here now for almost two years, I have tried to make the time to explore. I've enjoyed Devon's natural wonders while on walks in both Dartmoor & Exmoor, in Braunton Burrows and along many of the beaches along the North coast; I've also experienced many other attractions in the county. I've eaten in numerous pubs and restaurants in the area, too.

Friends and family often ask our advice on what they should see and do when they visit. I thought it would be nice if I made a series of blog posts about my experiences in North Devon, so that when people plan to visit, I can point them at these pages as a way of letting them decide for themselves what they want to do.

To this end, today I am starting a series of posts on Devon's attractions. This won't include beaches or outdoor spaces that are free to roam, as this would take a very long time to detail. Perhaps, if there is an interest, I'll do that next, but for now, this series will include gardens, museums, art galleries, theme parks and other such attractions. A later series will also describe my dining experiences in various pubs, cafes & restaurants in the area, but for now, I think my hands are rather full!

I think it is important to note here that the majority of these attractions are in North Devon. There will be some central and southern places mentioned (and even one Cornish attraction, but it's my list so I can do as I please), but not nearly as many as I'd like! Bear with me, I've got a long list of attractions that I am slowly working my way through visiting...:) If there's anywhere you've been to in Devon that you recommend I visit and write about here, let me know!

As I write each post, I'll add a link to it here, so that I can keep tabs on what I've done and also so I have the one handy page to point people at. The list of Devon Attractions is as follows:

I hope you enjoy your visit to Devon!
