Clarinets Need Cleaning
Today I have been creative! I have been working on my Faery Fest scrapbook, which I hope to fill with memories of that magical weekend. I have lots of faeries to decorate it with, and have all sorts of momentoes from the weekend, but I still need to print out lots of photos. I think I ought to buy some more ink! :S
No crochet as yet, but hopefully I'll work on that tomorrow. :) Oh, and perhaps some baking, if I plan my day carefully enough!
On Monday & Tuesday I played my clarinet - for the first time in quite possibly years! This was apparent from the state of the poor thing - some of the keys were black! Ew. I've done a thorough job of cleaning it (two days' worth of thorough cleaning): I've even unscrewed bits, cleaned them, polished them and screwed them back on (and that last part was probably the hardest in some cases)! Now, finally, it's shiny and sparkly once more! Hurrah!
I also found that I can still play it pretty well (only one or two squeaks), and I can also still transpose by sight and play by ear. Yay! I was worried that I'd forgotten how to do all this, but it seems to come naturally, mostly. I'm hoping to keep up this practise, as well as also playing all my other instruments regularly again. I've always enjoyed my music, so I ought to make sure I make time for it.
I'd better go and look busy now, but before I vanish, I thought I'd leave you with the news that my grandmother has been trampolining today.
