My Love of Roy Orbison & A Strange Coincidence

No one compares to Roy Orbison. His voice is just incredible - the best I've ever heard. He was also a fantastic songwriter who broke the rules and wrote amazing songs as a result.

As you might be able to tell from the above paragraph, I'm a huge fan of Roy Orbison. For weeks I have been resisting the urge to buy the Roy Orbison - In Dreams DVD in town. Last week I caved and bought it. I watched it on Saturday.

Wow.

I really enjoyed watching and learning some things I had been previously unaware of about this man. For instance, I knew that his first wife died in a motorcycle accident, but I did not know about his two sons dying in a fire in his house. That brought tears to my eyes.

I also found it interesting how many big stars were influenced by him - several appeared on the DVD to talk about him. It was inspiring to hear their memories.

Overall, I love the DVD. It also made me a bit sad that I've lost my Travelling Wilbury's tape. I really wanted to listen to those songs again.

So...

Imagine my surprise as I walked through town today and heard Roy Orbison's voice as I passed a local music shop. Imagine my further surprise when I realised it was "Not Alone" playing. I went in and asked at the desk. I swear, I had absolutely no idea that The Travelling Wilburys Collection was coming out today!

So, now I have the Travelling Wilburys on CD and DVD! :D:D:D This is truly ADOMG (for a definition, see here)! I'm listening to one of the CDs now. The music really is as good as I remember it! I highly recommend getting your hands on this asap!

Have a funky day, peeps!
