Family & Beaches

The family have gone now. It's been fab to have them here, but I feel so exhausted now! We fitted a lot into the three-and-a-half days they were here. :) Later I will be bringing you a rant about customer service using a number of case studies, but let's keep this post simple.

We went to four beaches in three days. It was nice to breathe the sea air in deeply and admire the views, and I was able to notice little differences in each beach. Does make you sleepy, though.

The beaches we visited were -

Putsborough: big, fairly busy but by no means packed and with the occasional rock. There was a road down to the beach so G&G could get down (the main way down is fairly treacherous steps), but they still had a little bit of trouble.

Instow: a narrower beach (or possibly that was to do with the tide) with finer sand and a few dunes. We could park on the road right next to it, which was easy enough. Pleasant to stroll along, and not very busy while we were there.

Westward Ho!: a pebble beach but lots of sand while we were there as the tide was so far out. There was a slope down, but G&G didn't go down as they were worried no one would be able to push them back up again! Enjoyed icecreams while looking out to sea from above the beach, instead.

Woolacombe: rather crowded with families who didn't bother to read the signs that warned them not to do certain things for their own safety. Also lots of surfing. People were using the toilets to change, which made the toilet floors very slippery, and when we tried to find a key for the disabled loo we were told it was owned by the council for residents only. Apart from that it was fairly nice - there were milkshakes! Oh, and brightly coloured beach huts.

I took a number of photos, so I'll look through and see about putting some online. But not right now. Maybe tomorrow.
