Devon Festivals
Last weekend was the Lynton & Lynmouth Music Festival! It's a shame that Jon and I didn't see more of it, but we definitely enjoyed what we saw and heard on Sunday.
One of the bands we heard was called Circulus (if you check out their website with children or anyone not keen on bad language, be warned, don't read the reviews page). They were very cool. Dressed up like Medieval troubadours, they played psychedelic folk-rock using instuments as varied as bongos, archaic woodwind instruments and a Moog. Everyone in the crowd enjoyed them, several people got up and danced, and Jon geeked out by using the zoom on his camera to find out exactly what equipment they were using.
This was my first music festival (unless you count Woodstock, which returns in two weeks and we might be there!). It was fun - stalls with some cool stuff to buy, food, arts and crafts, buskers, happy people dancing... why have I never gone to one before? I actually considered the idea of camping for it next year, until we found out about some really nice holiday flats in the area. ;) We even put our names down to help out next year, which should be a laugh!
Sadly, next weekend we have to miss Oceanfest this year. We also missed the Appledore Arts Festival. But we are already planning our June 2007. If anyone wishes to visit that month and join us for a truly fantastic time, let us know!!!
