Climate Change & Friendly Wind Farms - My Final Thoughts For 2005

This year has consistently proven to me just how vital it is that we begin to tackle the problem of Climate Change now, and that Wind Power plays an important role in the solution.

Our world is changing. We can't stop it, but we can lessen the negative effects by altering the way we live our lives. We can stop relying on electricity and cars so much. We can support renewable energy sources. We can make our voices heard to people who play a more prominent role in environmental decisions than ourselves.

It is critical that we start to listen to the facts and do something, and this starts now. Forget New Year Resolutions, make a promise to yourself and this world now that you will do what you can, today and every day, to help prevent further Climate Change.

This includes supporting proposed wind farms, such as the one at Batsworthy Cross in North Devon. I have not heard one valid reason why the site is an inappropriate one (I don't call "They'll be seen from Exmoor" a valid reason), but instead have heard many explanations of why it is an ideal site. If you want more info, npower renewable's website is a good source of information.

When will people wake up and see what a serious problem we are facing? The Climatic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia are warning that 2005 was the second hottest year on record. Check out their site - especially the graph about global air temperature on the homepage.

Then check out research from the School of Geography and Geosciences at the University of St Andrews. Wind Farms are friends not foes, the study concludes.

Please, read the facts and do your part to protect our planet. If you would like more info, check out my Wind Power Links Pages. I hope this helps.
