Going SightSonic!

For those not in the know, there will be an international digital arts festival in York on 14-16th of this month. SightSonic has been going for something like six years now, and it is always an amazing spectacle to behold!

This will be my fifth year of involvement, and, sadly, quite possibly my last, what with moving to Devon. It was in my final year at university that I went (for degree reasons) to a conference organised as part of the event, and then went to another festival event the next day with the postgrads. That was fun. :)

The next two years I helped out at conferences, as well as visiting many more fabulous events during the festival. Last year I was too busy with my PGCE to volunteer, but Jon and I did attend a few events again.

This year sees me helping out in the Hub (the central venue where you can go to find out about other events - it will be in the Guildhall), and checking out the events again. If I hear back, I might also be volunteering at another conference. So I'm going to be quite busy that weekend!

Anyway, if you're in York, don't miss out. There is so much going on and it is a really entertaining festival. For a list of events, go to the SightSonic website. Alternatively, ask me for a flyer, as I now have quite a few.

Please, please, do attend something if you can. It's fabulous that such a historic city is so innovative, too, and is something that should be encouraged to continue. Plus, it really is good fun.

One event I want to mention: KMA will be launching their latest interactive installation, "The Square" in Davygate during the festival, and it will stay put until Spring 2006. KMA were behind the "Dancing In The Streets" installation in the alcove behind Cafe Nero on Davygate this year. Some of you may remember that I mentioned it in a news post back in April. I think "The Square" will be in the same place as that was, and it promises to be even more exciting!

Spread the news & enjoy SightSonic!
