Job News
I'm back in York now, and feeling much more positive about finding a job in Devon. There are two reasons why:
I was really disappointed about not getting an interview for the Heritage Centre job, so I emailed the council to politely request feedback on my job application. I didn't actually expect them to be helpful, but I thought it worth a try.
And it was! I got a great response, which was both uplifting and informative. Apparently they narrowed down the applicants from over 50 to 6 (who would then have an interview) in three stages, and I made the final stage and only narrowly missed out. And they gave me info on what I did well and what could have been better.
So, I guess some of you are wondering about the interview for the receptionist job at the school. Well, it was an informal interview and went ok. I wasn't entirely sure whether I actually wanted the job, as it is only reception work, is a bit of a drive there and back, and they wanted someone to start quite soon. But it was good, the school and interviewers were nice, and I thought I had a good chance.
And I did. I was told I'd hear today. However, my mobile phone ran out of battery - good thing I diverted it to Jon's in time! I was driving when they called, so Jon spoke to the headteacher.
Apparently I didn't get the job, but I came second. AND if I would like feedback, then I have a number to call. It was too late when I got back, so I'll call tomorrow.
Isn't that great? Both these things have given me a lot of confidence, so hopefully when I find my dream job they will be falling over themselves to hire me!
Yay!
