Oompa-Loompa!
TUESDAY:
The first thing we did on Tuesday morning was visit the Impressions Gallery on Castlegate. However, we were disappointed by the exhibitions currently on display there. The main one was photos of the actors and sets of Latin American soap operas - not our kind of thing, really.
I'm sure we did something else, as well, but I've forgotten. If I remember, I'll edit this later...:P
This day we went for lunch in Gert and Henry's, which is the restaurant in the middle of the market. It has the fabulous address of 4, Jubbergate. :) And it is a fabulous place! Really wonderful food, nice staff and such a beautiful building! Definitely highly recommended, this one.
After lunch, we hurried to the Minster. There were two informal performances taking place that day which we wanted to hear, one at 12:30pm, the other at 1:30pm. These were by the Band and Choir of Westwinds Music Society, from Calgary in Alberta, Canada. And they were both fantastic to listen to. There is also an exhibition by the Yorkshire Sculptors Group at the Minster now until 2nd September, which is worth having a look at!
After wondering in and out of a few shops, we went back to the flat to pick up Jon and head to Betty's. Betty's rocks. And there is a pianist after 6pm who is really superb to listen to. This is the day I think I overdosed on chocolate, for I had a chocolate milkshake at Betty's, followed by chocolate icecream (and Pimms).
And then we went to City Screen to see "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" - WOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! That film is FABULOUS. There I was, dancing away to the Oompa-Loompas and everything! Basically, we all loved it. Muchly. :D
And it was very late when the film ended. So the next day we were to meet later than usual.
WEDNESDAY:
It turned out a little bit later than that, and what with button issues, we didn't have time for lunch in a cafe (Jon and I both had to be places: he had an optician's appointment, I had to work in the afternoon). Instead, we had delicious sandwiches from the Cornish Pasty Shop outside our flat. And then I sent Mum and Jonnie off on a walk around the walls while I went to work for the afternoon (it was quiet).
That evening we went to my fave restaurant: Fellini's! This place is fantastic - I am sooo fussy that in most places I won't find a lot on the menu that I'll eat, but this restaurant offers even me so much choice! And everything tastes brilliant! I love this restaurant, and it did not disappoint, which is why we booked to go again the very next night!
To find out what happened then, you'll have to read the final installment of my family's visit, and you may have to wait, as I haven't written it yet...
